Become a WCRC Host Event

Selected NRHA-approved events throughout the Western United States and Western Canada are invited to participate as Official WCRC Host Qualifying Events, giving their exhibitors the opportunity to qualify locally for the Championship in Las Vegas.

Official WCRC Qualifying Event

WCRC selects established reining events throughout the Western United States and Western Canada. Each selected event receives the designation Official Qualifying Event, West Coast Reining Championships, Las Vegas.

The inaugural program will be limited to approximately 12 to 15 qualifying events, creating meaningful geographic coverage without diluting the value of being selected. Target regions are Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Canadian Host Events are provided with the same benefits as US Host Events.

The program is designed to complement, not compete with, existing events and NRHA affiliate programs. WCRC uses existing NRHA classes, does not require additional membership fees, and asks for minimal additional administration from the host event. Official Qualifying Events retain control of their event, existing entry fees, sponsorships and awards programs.

How Qualifying Works

WCRC competition runs concurrently with the host event's existing NRHA classes. The host event does not need to create another go, another draw or another day of competition.

An exhibitor entering a WCRC qualifier division is required to enter a corresponding NRHA division at the host event. For example, a WCRC Non Pro qualifying entry must enter at least one of the event's NRHA Non Pro divisions (Non Pro, Intermediate, Limited, Novice and so on) in the group of divisions included with the qualifying division in the slate.

To qualify for the WCRC Championship, an exhibitor must place in the Top Five, including ties for fifth place, in the WCRC division. A zero or no-score does not qualify. Qualification is based on the rider, not the horse.

Host Events may offer one or two WCRC qualifying slates during a single event. Each slate may include those WCRC divisions that correspond with the Host Event's existing class schedule. Host Events are encouraged to offer as many WCRC divisions as practical.

Qualifier Entry Fee

The inaugural WCRC qualifier entry fee is $45 per division.

Host Event retains per entry$5
WCRC program receives per entry$40
Total per division$45

There is no WCRC added-money requirement for Official Qualifying Events. WCRC qualifying divisions do not offer added money or jackpot funds and are not NRHA-approved classes, so WCRC qualifier entry fees are not subject to NRHA fees or deductions, including the 5%% fee assessed on applicable NRHA class entry fees.

The host receives incremental revenue without providing additional added money or awards. The WCRC portion supports qualifier recognition, program administration, championship awards and promotion.
